My Therapy Approach: Helping You Navigate Toxic Family Dynamics

In therapy, there's no rigid playbook dictating what your journey should look like. This grants you the freedom to define your own goals and motivations. My approach is grounded in simplicity—I strive to make complex concepts and jargon easy to understand, ensuring that you receive the support you need as you progress towards your personal well-being goals.

As a therapist, I enjoy exploring ideas and getting to know you as a human being. Think of me as your co-pilot on this journey—we'll navigate it together, with you at the wheel, while I provide guidance and support along the way.

A mentor once shared, "Create a safe space, then step aside." While I don't step aside completely, this sentiment aligns with my philosophy. I facilitate an environment of safety and trust, allowing you to lead the conversation. Your questions and feedback are not only welcomed but encouraged, as they enrich our therapeutic relationship.

Trained in evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapies, I'm here to be your laid-back, open-minded guide—a good listener and a deep well of information.

Therapist Bio: Licensed Therapist Specializing in Toxic Family Dynamics

I hold two master's degrees in psychology, covering both the research and practical sides of the field. Think of psychology as a tree with many branches—my education spans across both understanding how the mind works and applying that knowledge to help people directly. This makes me well-rounded and knowledgeable in various aspects of psychology.

Initially, I planned to focus on research, but a graduate internship in 2014 introduced me to the rewarding world of therapy. Since then, I've worked with diverse populations including children, adults, families, and couples, in various settings ranging from clinics to online platforms. Before the pandemic, I was a therapist at a clinic in Harrisburg, PA, and since 2020, I’ve been running my own private practice through online therapy.

Early in my career, I concentrated on helping individuals with childhood trauma, particularly complex PTSD. Over time, I expanded my expertise to include ADHD, anxiety, and depression. I also found a significant need for support among those dealing with family issues, leading me to specialize in assisting adults navigating toxic family dynamics.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time around the house or relaxing outdoors, especially grilling in nice weather. I have a passion for movies and have amassed a collection of over 1200 films. My love for stories and understanding people fuels my dedication to therapy. Additionally, I dabble in drawing and painting, so you might see some of my artwork around. Originally from the Deep South, I moved to Carlisle, PA, for graduate school and decided to stay because it feels like home.
